Biography

Representative Bob Stump left a legacy of service to America’s armed forces and its veterans, after serving more than a quarter of a century in the United States House of Representatives, representing the 3rd District of Arizona.

He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services and the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, where he was known for his commitment of the men and women who currently defend the nation in uniform and those who have served before. A combat veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, Representative Stump went on to graduate from Arizona State University, and served in both the Arizona Senate and House before his election to Congress in 1976.

The American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, the American Ex-Prisoners of War, AMVETS and the Vietnam Veterans of America – and many other organizations – recognized Representative Stump for his outstanding commitment to public service.
